Welcome
to My Alaska State Site
I love Alaska
My Husband and I have lived here for 5 years...
My husband moved
to Alaska first, he got here August 22, 1995.
He started working
here and I stayed in Upstate New York
to settle our
house and things. Then my husband flew back to New York
and we packed
all our belongings loaded them
in a U-Haul trailer
and we set out for our trip.
The scenery along
the Alaska Highway was so spectacular.
The mountains,
the caribou, just breath taking scenery.
It took us 10
days to arrive at our destination Anchorage.
We arrived in
Anchorage on October 27, 1996 at 2:30 am.
We stayed with
a friend,
and our first
christmas here the weather was very warm.
We never got
any snow till February, 1996.
So I was not
prepared for my first real winter here.
But it really
wasn't any different than New York.
The winters are
not as bad as people say,
however the days
are long, and yes we do have daylight in the winter.
It gets daylight
around 10:00am and gets dark around 3 - 4 pm.
The summer makes
up for it as it is complete daylight by 4 am
and it is only
twilight at night.
We really love
the wild life, the moose walk right into your yard.
I love it when
spring arrives and all the geese start flying in.
We love camping,
hunting, and the great fishing.
At the bottom
you will see links to all
my different
Alaska Sites that I have up for now.
Enjoy Your visit
and please sign our guest book.
"Alaska"
Land
of wide open spaces,
Where
the mountains touch the sky,
Where
the eagles soar, and the glaciers roar,
And
the moose meander by.
Land
of the great King Salmon,
Home
of the huge brown bear.
Place
of the playful otter,
Where
wildflowers scent the air.
Land
that I love and cherish,
Where
my heart will always be.
Where
my thoughts will never parish,
"Alaska"
wild and free!
The
Alaska State Song is about our state flag
Eight
stars of gold on a field of blue-
Alaska's
flag. May it mean to you
The
blue of the sea, the evening sky,
The
mountain lakes, and the flow'rs nearby;
The
gold of the early sourdough's dreams,
The
precious gold of the hills and streams;
The
brilliant stars in the northern sky,
The "Bear" - the "Dipper" - and, shining high,
The
great North Star with its steady light,
Over
land and sea a beacon bright.
Alaska's flag - to Alaskans dear,
The
simple flag of a last frontier.
The
Alaska State bird is the Alaska Willow Ptarinigan
The
Alaska State Flower is the Forget Me Nots.
They
grow wild all over Alaska.
